Idaho Falls School District 91 has improved its energy efficiency by more than 43 percent compared to a 2005 baseline, in addition to earning ENERGY STAR Leaders Top Performer recognition for achieving an average energy performance rating of 93 for its entire 18-school portfolio.
Since May of 2006, this improvement represents a savings of approximately $3.87 million for District 91. During this period District 91 has avoided the emissions of more than 37,802 metric tons of CO2 or the annual emissions from more than 3964 cars. This is also equivalent of planting more than 568,000 trees. Participation in the ENERGY STAR program has provided District 91 with many valuable resources and ideas that have enabled it to meet its energy goals and ensure that Idaho Falls students are learning to be good stewards of the environment.
