Registration
Kindergarten Registration

abc blocksIn the last few years, District 91 has had a record number of kindergartners. Parents are encouraged to register their children early, which will increase the odds of children being able to attend their neighborhood school. Kindergarten registration will be from March 1 to April 9.

If a school has more kindergartners registered than available spots when registration ends on April 9, students will be placed using a lottery system. Kindergartners registering after April 9, will be placed on a space available basis. If lotteries are necessary, they will be held at the district office on April 12, and parents will receive a letter notifying them of the results. In the lottery:

  • Incoming kindergarteners who have siblings enrolled in that school will receive priority status.
  • If the number of students with siblings exceeds the number of available spots, all those students will be placed in a separate lottery.
  • Once the available spots at a school have been filled, other students will be "overflowed" or bussed to nearby schools.

To register your child, visit the school your child is zoned to attend and pick up a registration packet or download a registration packet (español).

The packets must be returned to your neighborhood school by April 9, along with a copy of your child's birth certificate and current immunization records.
