Culinary Arts is a yearlong course in which students will begin learning food preparation and basic chef skills. Students will learn a variety of skills such as food safety, knife handling, garnishing and plating techniques, proper table setting, cake decorating, fried foods, and flavor and dish development. Students will learn to prepare restaurant quality food with an emphasis on customer service, leadership, and employment skills. They will investigate the exciting and developing professions in the culinary industry. World cuisine and exotic dishes will be explored and students will also have the chance to participate in class cooking competitions.
