Moving Guidelines
Seamless Transitions: A Guide for Teachers & Certified Staff Relocating to a New School
Moving to a new school within Idaho Falls School District #91 is an exciting opportunity, but it also comes with important logistical considerations. This guide outlines everything you need to know about technology transfers, curriculum materials, furniture policies, moving supplies, and procedures to ensure a smooth, organized, and stress-free transition. By following these guidelines, we can maintain continuity in instruction, maximize resources, and create an efficient learning environment for both students and staff.
HR & Personnel Changes
Employees or supervisors must notify HR/Payroll of staff changes or relocations.
No additional notifications are needed—HR/Payroll will inform the IT Department, which will handle email distribution lists and other virtual adjustments.
Curriculum Materials
Most curriculum resources stay at the current school unless:
A boundary change occurs.
A special program relocates, and those resources are not available at the new school.
If critical curriculum materials are missing at the new school, contact Todd Brown for assistance.
Furniture Guidelines
Furniture does not move with teachers—it stays at the current school.
Exceptions:
Boundary changes or special program relocations—in these cases, classroom sets of desks and unique equipment may move.
Moving Supplies & Boxes (Involuntary Transfers Only)
Each teacher moving to a new school will receive 20 standard-sized boxes from the warehouse.
1Building secretaries will order boxes, tape, and supplies for their school.
2Do not use personal boxes—large boxes are difficult to move and can cause injuries.
3Labeling System:
4Labels will be printed by the Print Shop and sent to schools.
Labels must be affixed to the side of the box and include:
Teacher’s Name
Current Classroom Number
New School Name
New Classroom Number (if available)
Moving schedules, drivers, and workers will be coordinated when large-scale moves are required.

Technology & Equipment Funding Guidelines
Certified Staff WILL Take:
Technology is assigned based on learning objectives, not individuals or schools.
Most devices are purchased with taxpayer funds and must be actively used for instruction.
Items purchased with grant money, PTO funds, Title funds, CTE funds, E-Rate funds, or Special Ed funds must remain at the current school.

Exception: If a Special Program relocates, technology and equipment purchased for that program may move.
IT tracks funding sources in the equipment database—please notify IT in special cases to ensure proper tracking.
Need Additional Technology After Moving?
If a teacher or school finds that they are missing essential technology after relocating:
Notify the IT Department.
Requests will be reviewed case by case to reallocate available resources.
Boundary changes, special program relocations, or school closures may require adjustments to student-to-device ratios to maintain fair distribution across schools.
Our Commitment to Effective Technology Use
Technology should actively support learning and engage students in meaningful instruction. Every device must be used for educational purposes, and we are committed to distributing resources equitably to enhance student success.
If you have any questions or special circumstances, please reach out to the IT Department for assistance.
