Beginning August 25, 2026, all District 91 students who ride buses will use a bus badge through My Ride. Badges ensure that students are riding the correct routes and allow parents to track the bus in real-time.

To prepare to use My Ride in August, request a bus badge for your student today by emailing transportation@sd91.org or sending a message via the My Ride app. Badges will be printed over the summer and distributed during the first week of school.

Note: If your student already uses a bus badge, they should continue using the same one. If your student does not ride a bus, they are not required to have a bus badge.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is My Ride required?

Yes. Beginning in August 2026, all D91 students who ride a bus are required to have a bus badge. Downloading the My Ride app and receiving notifications, however, is not required.

What does the badge do?

When students scan their badge, it confirms with the driver that they are on the correct route. Drivers will be alerted if your student tries to get off at the wrong bus stop. This is especially helpful for younger students and students new to the area.

What happens if my student forgets their badge? Can they still ride the bus?

If a student forgets their badge, they can still “badge on” the bus by entering their student ID number.

What should I do if my student needs to change routes temporarily?

Parents can request temporary route changes by calling D91 Transportation, sending a message through the app, or calling the school office for a bus pass.

Is my student’s personal information displayed on their badge?

The front of the bus badge contains the student’s name and the name of District 91. The badge does not include the student’s photo or the name of their school. The back of the bus badge contains bus safety tips.

What is the best way for my student to keep track of their badge?

D91 Transportation will provide a card sleeve and lanyard with every bus badge. We recommend keeping the badge in an easy-access pocket of the backpack or attaching it to the outside.

My student already has a bus badge. Do they need another one?

No. If your student already uses a bus badge, they should continue using the same one.

My student doesn’t ride a bus to school. Do they still need a badge?

No. Only students who ride a bus are required to have a bus badge.

How do I make an account for the My Ride app?

When signing up for the app, enter "Idaho Falls" for the school district — it will auto populate with Idaho Falls School District #91. Then, you will need your student's ID number (lunch number) to link them to your account.

Can I contact my driver using the app?

Parents can communicate with the transportation department via the My Ride app to notify the driver if their student is not riding, get a bus pass to use an alternate stop, ask about lost and found items and any general questions.
