Through our partnership with Linewize, our online safety and wellbeing provider, we will be implementing a new parental control app called Qustodio. This is just another part of our commitment to our students’ online safety.

As devices play an increasing role in children’s education, it is crucial that we put safeguards in place. US Federal Law mandates the implementation of internet filtering technology in schools. District 91 wants to give parents and guardians more visibility and control over their child’s digital lives on both the devices we send home and on the devices they personally own.

Qustodio, a world leader in providing online safety solutions, will give parents and guardians important insights into their child’s online activity on their school-issued and personal devices. To help parents make full use of this powerful tool, we are granting every parent a free Qustodio account. Parents also can add Qustodio to one personal device for each connected student, for free. Additional devices will require an affordable yearly subscription. This will give them visibility and control in one app to help them understand and supervise their children’s technology usage.

With Qustodio, parents will be able to:

• Block access to games and apps
• Pause internet access
• Set daily time limits
• Set content filtering on the internet for the connected devices
• Location monitoring
• Gain visibility to their child’s online activity on school-issued devices
• Access expert advice via our Online Safety Hub

Please note that parents and guardians will not be able to control internet access on district-issued devices during normal school hours.
